Procurement and commercial support for a £16m high-voltage infrastructure project
About the Project
PX Engineering was appointed to provide Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management for a new 66kV infrastructure project at Teesside Gas Process Plant, Seal Sands.
The project had an approximate value of £16 million and was planned over an 18-month programme, involving a number of stakeholders including NSMP, INEOS and TGPP.
JPS Project Procurement Support...
Johnson Procurement Solutions was appointed by PX Engineering to provide project procurement, post-contract and commercial services support.
JPS developed the main contract documentation using NEC3 Option A and created a procurement strategy specifically for the project. Working alongside PX Engineering’s existing procurement team, JPS helped establish suitable vendors and contractors for the key project packages.
The team also prepared and issued Invitation to Tender documentation, managed bid reviews and supported commercial negotiations to help ensure suitable contractual terms were agreed and project risks were managed.
Throughout the project, JPS managed the procurement schedule to keep equipment and contract packages aligned with the required timescales. Weekly reporting was also provided to the senior project team, highlighting progress and any areas of potential risk or concern.
Post-contract commercial management and QS support continued throughout the project, including contractor payments, variations, final accounts and end-of-life forecasting.

A number of key contract packages were placed as part of the project, including the NP Connection, Civils Package, ICP Package covering contestable and non-contestable works, HV Package Works, Engineering Consultancy, Design Verification Consultancy and Site Survey Package.
